The following is one of my favorite YouTube videos.

When you have a vision, when you really believe you can make a difference, do something great, or create something meaningful, then you’ve got to learn to ignore the critics, and ignore your failures.

Neither one will go away. Both can help you succeed.

Critics fuel your desire, failure is the playground of greatness.

(Here’s the text from the video)

Dismissed from drama school with a note that said “Wasting her time, she’s too shy to put her best foot forward”… Lucille Ball

Turned down by the Decco recording company who said “We don’t like their sound, and guitar music is on their way out”… The Beatles

Failed soldier, farmer, and real estate agent at 38 years old he went to work for his father as a handyman… Ulysses S. Grant

Cut from the high-school basketball team, he went home, locked himself in his room, and cried… Michael Jordan

A teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything, that he should go into a field where he might succeed by virtue of his pleasant personality… Thomas Edison

Fired from a newspaper because he lacked imagination and had no original ideas… Walt Disney

His fiance died, he failed in business twice, he had a nervous breakdown, and he was defeated in 8 elections… Abraham Lincoln

If you’ve never failed, you’ve never lived.

    Hey Rusty:

Just wanted you to know that I think what you are doing here is really awesome. Funny, seems like your post could have been inspired by things occurring in another aspect of your professional life… And your post is right on…

I was telling my wife last night about some of the stuff you are talking about here and she thought it was really interesting…very timely and appropriate with widespread application. And while I no longer use your current webservice that you are involved in, had I not, I wouldn’t have had the good fortune of finding you here. Watching one of your videos on mastery has inspired me to master WordPress and master RE prospecting…working on deconstructing my fears of both right now and developing a microcosm approach toward both.

So keep up the good work. :)

I can’t tell you how refreshing your post on Trulia was. Thank you for that, and for this comment. They’ve meant the world to me. That’s been a harsh thread, and you’re right, this was inspired, in large part, by that ongoing experience.

I’m also glad you’ve found some of the content here helpful…

Oh, and of the record, good choice on WordPress, it’s the foundation of the new engine I’m building (good guess). Maximum flexibility for agents, an open source platform which means no more proprietary, walled gardens where agents are restricted only to the features their provider can release. By going this route (and being the first major provider to do so), I hope to create a movement that empowers agents, gives them the ability to easily add features without having to pay their provider. There’s a wealth of resources (much of them free) for wordpress. These haven’t heretofore been of use to Agents.

The difficulty, of course, is that for most agents, the WordPress interface is overly cumbersome and intimidating. Wouldn’t it be nice, though, if there were a simplified admin interface that allowed agents to leverage the full force of the WordPress platform, but with a simpler UI? Then they could take advantage of the full scope of WordPress Resources, but in an experience that anyone can use…. Hmm….

And wouldn’t it be nice if someone who had built a site on our platform, and wanted to move for whatever reason (more flexibility, for instance), could actually simply export their site, upload it on a self-hosted WordPress host, and have it running within the hour? So many fun options…

Anyway, thank you again for your kindness, and for seeing the larger picture.

I must show my thanks to this writer for rescuing me from such a challenge. Just after checking throughout the world wide web and finding suggestions that were not productive, I was thinking my life was done. Living minus the solutions to the problems you have sorted out through your post is a serious case, as well as the ones which might have in a wrong way affected my entire career if I hadn’t noticed your website. Your actual know-how and kindness in taking care of all the things was priceless. I don’t know what I would have done if I had not come upon such a thing like this. I’m able to at this moment look forward to my future. Thank you so much for your expert and results-oriented guide. I won’t hesitate to endorse your blog post to any person who requires assistance on this matter.
